It’s been SO long since I had a chance to catch my breath! When I last posted, I was looking to take on some more clients to build up a client base, and then I experienced a random twist of fate.
During Covid, I blogged about struggling to find a job being newly qualified in a field where demand had exploded. When I started my marketing journey, I was working in a cafe often in a supervisory role. I had applied for a job with a well known local company for a marketing role I felt I could do and shocked when they informed me, they had hired someone else as a digital marketer but had seen cafe work on my CV.
My heart sank a little. I was offered a well-paid salary as their new cafe manager who would scale up business and take ownership. With a financial pinch squeezing from furlough, I accepted. Immediately, I started digital marketing for the cafe in tandem. Soon my new bosses noticed my social media work and offered me some additional digital work on days the cafe was quiet. Quickly the work began piling up!
The last few months, I have career switched back to where I was to be in marketing but now, I’m back in-house full time!
I have a few very lovely clients with minimal needs I’ve managed to continue to work with for now, I can’t take on additional clients. Ironically of course, surrounding businesses have noticed the work I’m doing for my company and would now love to work with me!
It leads me to a bigger dream. My own agency?! I’ve never found an agency I’ve wanted to join, preferring to answer directly to clients with ownership of the work but maybe, in the future one day…. Defiant may be more than a rouge digital marketer in the wild!
